“Chris update…” er, update ?
It seems the Wiki entry re Chris Olaafson that I linked to in my previous post has been deleted, luckily I plan ahead, here is said entry -
“Chris Olaafson, born 14 February 1980, is a professional poker player originally from Stockholm in Sweden, but now permanently based in Las Vegas, Nevada. In his 12 year poker career he has accumulated a multi-million dollar fortune (some say as much as $30 million US, however neither Olaafson nor any other reliable source has ever confirmed this amount to be accurate) from playing in the highest stakes poker cash games and tournaments the world over, as well as the staking and sponsorship of other players. He is said to be the financial and emotional backbone of many of today’s household poker celebrities and spends much of his time coaching the superstars of tomorrow at his own top-secret poker ranch named ‘ForeverLand’. In late summer of 2010 he is set to release his free revolutionary poker training system, ‘Up Your Ante – The Revolutionary Poker Training System’ to the public via the Internet.

[edit] Personal
Olaafson was born on Valentine’s Day, 1980, in Stockholm to Olaaf and Ulrika Olaafson, a herring fisherman and Ikea meatball maker respectively. His early childhood was punctuated by trips on his father’s boat to the outer-lying Swedish islands and the consumption of hard liquor and snus. It was in his teenage years that he started to settle into his quite outstanding physical presence, something he had always struggled with as a child. Chris, even at the tender age of 10, had frequently attracted the attention of older girls, sometimes in their 30’s and 40’s.
[edit] Video Games
Chris had always dabbled in video gaming from an early age but it was in his mid-teens that he really took to it like a duck to water. After becoming the youngest person in Sweden to complete SEGA’s Sonic the Hedgehog without using any lives his inspiration to pursue gaming as more than just a hobby flourished. He would spend sometimes as much as 23 hours a day honing his skills on a vast array of console and PC games, tightly locked away in his bedroom. He would eat and sometimes sleep at his desk after marathon sessions playing Doom and would frequently urinate using an empty two-litre Coke bottle he had taped to his penis. His dedication to the sport was unshakable and after only 18 short months of serious gaming would turn professional.
After excelling in the online gaming world and after frequent visits to South Korea to compete in the World Cyber Games, Olaafson would reach and fall dramatically from the pinnacle of his short gaming career. In 1997 he stormed to the semi-finals of the World Doom Championship in Seoul and with his opponent, Johnny ‘Streets Of Rage II’ Nghn, only seconds from imminent defeat Chris’ keyboard malfunctioned and he repeatedly shot himself in the face until all was lost. Olaafson would disappear from the scene immediately, never to compete again.
[edit] Poker
Olaafson’s introduction to poker was thanks to former professional gaming friends Hevad Khan and Bertrand ‘ElkY’ Grospellier, now also successful professional poker players. It was in 1998 and online poker was in its infancy, however Olaafson began controlling the No-Limit Hold’em games quickly and found himself making a comfortable living, initially playing free-rolls, and then quickly jumping into cash and tournament games. Earnings from actual personal play are unknown as it’s rumored most of his bankroll was made playing live cash games during the 2004 Camel Fair in Rajasthan, India and by playing regularly in the exclusive ‘Hollywood Hairdresser’s Game’ in Burbank, CA.
[edit] Rumours, Coaching & Player Staking
Olaafson has been rumored to coach some of the world’s leading professional poker players. He has also been named as the man financially behind many of the world’s most successful exclusively online poker players, although neither of these rumors have ever been confirmed nor denied by a reliable source. A promotional trailer for his ‘Up Your Ante’ poker system, to be released late summer 2010, is claimed to have text featured in it that confirms these rumors to be true. This information was leaked by Charlie Peoples, an editor at the project’s post-production house One Dog Two Dicks Ltd. Peoples has since been fired from the company.
With his accumulated bankroll, Olaafson has been rumored to have backed many of today’s top players. In late 2009, it was reported that Chris made contact with online phenom “isildur1″ and became the player’s backer. However more recently, a Swedish poker blog has published a report that Chris may in fact be “isildur1″ himself [1]
[edit] Chris Olaafson’s Up Your Ante – The Revolutionary Poker Training System
Chris Olaafson’s Up Your Ante – The Revolutionary Poker Training System is Chris Olaafson’s first free poker education series designed to teach inferior poker players the tips and tricks that have made Chris one of the most inspirational poker players in the world, ever. The first part of an unknown number of parts is to be released on August 15th 2010 on www.chrisolaafson.com and, although the release and the content within has been kept top secret, it is believed to contain some fairly unorthodox poker lessons, lessons that Chris says will “…revolutionize the game, hence the name of the whole thing”. The tutorial series is said to feature appearances from some of the poker world’s biggest names, although Olaafson’s management have said all will become clear on the 15th of August, 2010.
