Maybe the trick is….
To simply denounce tournaments, ahem, I mean donkaments as lottery games, you pays your money and you takes your chances, to secure first places ? (Although my previous advice is still worth a £ or 2 of anyones money. Maybe.)
After all my “Gah, tournaments are’nt real poker.” & “I prefer cash games to buying lottery tickets.” comments, I took down the last APAT league game of the season last night in spectacular fashion as my infamous hand, 5-4 off despatched my HU opponent and a couple of others along the way. Due to my somewhat, er, esoteric choice of hands I was in first position pretty much all the way -
While I was busting players with some less than premium holdings, it is nice to see the best hand holding up when it counts -
This was actually so well timed as the two opponents both had just over 30K while I had shy over 50K, thus they were the real dangers to me so a swift, surgical removal of them was just what the Dr ordered.
Nottingham have now promoted themselves to the top division in the league and it is rightly deserved as out of 10 matches, 6 were won by a Nottingham player.
